Henry Yates, CEO of Enso Beverage Company, Answers Five Questions
Enso Beverage Company has been grabbing the New Brunswick, Canada spotlight recently. Breaking with tradition, Henry Yates, one of our Liftoff Capital entrepreneurs, realized there was an unexploited market niche for single servings of wine. Instead of bottling his wine, Henry designed fashionable cans for distribution and delivery. We are celebrating Henry's success, as his product is now available in NB Liquor stores. I've personally tried the chardonnay, and wrote my review recently. We asked him five questions about his business:
Q: Tell us about your company. What do you do?
A: Enso Beverage Company Inc is a “rethink your drink” type of company. We’re focused on alternative drink strategies aimed to disrupt traditions with a customer first attitude.
Q: Who or What inspired you to take the leap and become an entrepreneur?
A: Easy - Mr Dalling - Kennebecasis Valley High School entrepreneurship class. I also realized early that I didn’t fit within the traditional corporate structure.
Q: If you could recommend one service, book, technology or course that has helped you what is it and why?
A: The Venture Validation Program from Economic Development Greater Saint John, formerly known as Enterprise Saint John. This program gave me the tools and confidence I needed to make the leap and start my own business. This course isn’t theory or standing around talking about opening up a business. It’s functional and “boots on the ground” real-time learning and feedback. The coaching and support is incredible.
Q: What keeps you up at night?
A: Now that we have demand for our product we need to find the funds to keep up with that demand. Funding keeps me up at night.
Q: What are you working on now that excites you?
A: I’m really excited about the future of the company. We’re looking at strategies to connect with our customers and how we can bring new innovative drinks to them. One particular product we’re working towards is a Cannabis infused beverage!
